Diva Challenge #86 - Break Free

I stayed up last night to check out this week's diva challenge before I went to bed (it comes up around 11pm my time). The challenge is to break free of the edges of your border/string, etc, and since I am a naughty, undisciplined, unrestrained person who never starts with a border, and very rarely a string I decided I needed to think about it for a little bit, so headed off to bed to read. About half an hour later, it came to me that I should take the challenge very literally and, well, draw a box and have my design pushing out of it. Fortunately, I found a pencil in my bedside cupboard so that I could scribble down the idea, and didn't have to drag myself out of bed - 'cause, you know, that wasn't going to happen, we are just out of winter and it's still pretty cold of a night here. I stuck with daisies, because........I LOVE them :) I am still also feeling the mooka from the challenge a few weeks ago - just love the flowy, viney look of it.

As I've been working on this post, I've had another idea for this challenge & don't know whether to go with that, or back to the piece I was working on last night that I am pretty excited about.......the agony of indecision! Luckily I am not working this week and may be able to do both!

This is wonderful! Literally "out of the box" I was looking at your gallery and all your tangles are so lovely, delicate and elegant. I love that you put a design in the back of the box, too. Thank you for your comment on my tangle.

This is by far the very best and creative one thus far. You do think outside the box. Congratulations.

I love the way your mind works and the art it creates is perfection!
Helen, you darling girl! Where have you been all my Zentangle life? I just discovered you a couple of weeks ago, and every email update I get makes my heart go pitter pat. I adore your free, flowy style and LOVE everything you do. This one is perfect. What a talent. Almost everything you draw is dimensional - I wish you could teach me how to do it. ♥

Wow! So you are Papernstuff. I borrowed one of your ideas for some of my challenge pieces, and I appreciated your comments. On yours you took the challenge quite literally and drew a box to "go outside of". Brilliant concept and a lovely tile. The delicacy of your line work always inspires and amazes me. You must be using either a very light hand or a very narrow pen, or both! All your art is lovely.

hi linda. thankyou :) Your challenge pieces were lovely :) And, yes, papernstuff is my alter ego - it's too hard to get a configuration of Helen Williams that does not end in about 10 numbers (ah, the curse of having a common surname!).

Unfortunately,I have a really heavy hand and destroy far too many pens - I do generally use an 005, or sometimes 01 pen, though. I have been trying out a few different brands to see which ones can stand up to my torture!

Thanks for your lovely comments :)

Hello, Ann! I am still really new to using zentangle patterns/designs and am just soaking it all in and drawing like mad at the moment. Thankyou for taking the time to post your lovely comment - I read it when I woke up this morning - what a great way to start the day! I love the sharing aspect almost as much as the drawing and it is so nice to hear that your are enjoying what I am putting out there :)

This is a lovely and literal interpretation of breaking free of that box. :-) I love how you're using Mooka too.

Fantastic, so delicate and pretty.
Dear Helen, sorry about my poor english, I´m from Brazil, and new in zentangle´s world. Every week I enjoy "I´m the diva weekly challenge". But yours entries are the first I´m looking for, because I love everything you do. This week was the better, congratulations... Graciela.

Hi Graciela :) Thank you for the lovely comments - so nice to know that you are enjoying my drawings.

I just discovered zentangle online a few months ago myself - exciting isn't it? I am really loving incorporating zentangle patterns with my drawings.
