challenge #85 - pinwheels for peace

This weeks Diva Challenge - Pinwheels for Peace, such a great idea. love it. Now that I am on school holidays, oh yeah - had my last sessions for the term today, finished next term's planning yesterday, and now have 2 1/2 glorious weeks stretching out in front of me - I finally had the time tonight to finish off the pieces I have been working on for the challenge. There hasn't been a real lot of love between me and the pinwheel, but here's what I came up with: Basic pinwheel, most like the simple pinwheel string posted on the challenge, couldn't resist adding a few curly bits.

The pinwheel that grew - this one started off as a 8 vaned pinwheel that I just kept on adding more to:

The design below idea came from this beautiful digitally produced pinwheel, by William "Spektyr" Laskorski and though I normally freehand, I couldn't resist using this as a template - too hard to reproduce the perfect arcs, spaces, etc.

They are all three quite beautiful. I love the softness in the first two.

Love all three of them; I can't decide which is best--they are all beautiful. Well done!

what do you use to color the tangle?

Again you did a great job. The simple first one and of course the second one is astonishing (is this a good word?) And the last one, incredible.

Hi! I use letraset promarkers most of the time when I use colour & mostly for shading, too (sometimes I still use greylead). Love them :)

Hi Didisch :) Thankyou! I'm a bit meh about the 2nd one I think it would have been more interesting without the scrolly bits, but once that marker is on the page, there's no going back!
I love the "scrolly bits". They're all fascinating...as usual.

Quite a study in simplicity and complexity. All of them are great.

They're all very beautiful! That second one is my favorite, though. What an explosion of energy and movement! Layer upon layer of line! It feels like a pinwheel swirling wildly in a hurricane-force wind. Great job!

Lovely work, Helen! I've never had nuch tallent for drawing so I have tremendous admiration for those who do. Your work is quite beautiful. I really like what you did with the third image. I would not have objected if you had included a thumbnail of my orginal for reference instead of the rather anonymous link. I'm actually flattered that you chose one of my works as a template. The way you imprinted a unique pattern on each of the 8 rings is quite attractive. Well done.
