  2. Wow!! I love love love the cone-flowers and feathers and the morning glories. And with a little modification I think either would make the PERFECT tattoo design I've been searching for for my shoulder... but I wanted to make sure that you were not opposed to having your art duplicated in that way...
I didn't see an email to send this request to so I hope you see it here.

    1. Hi Alicia, thankyou :) You know, I would LOVE that - if you do end up using them, would you send me a picture of it when it is done? So exciting to see your artwork used in another format - I love it. I have added an email link under my photo(I thought I already had one there - I must have lost it in a layout edit). Thanks for mentioning it so I could sort it.

    1. Hi, thankyou! In the gallery drawings, I have used fineliners to draw the images, then some are shaded/coloured with greylead or coloured pencils, though recently I mostly use letraset promarkers to colour - this is how I get the watercolour effects on images like the morning glories as they blend really well :)

  6. Helen - I am awed by the beauty of your work - although I am happier than I ever expected to be with my Zentangles, given my usual lack of artistic talent, I am fully aware I do not possess the innate skills you have - your work is inspiring!

I love your Australian flora pictures - my family lives in Australia (Mum and my sister in Sydney, my brother in Victoria), we moved there from England years and years ago, and I moved to the States years ago, but seeing your wattles etc makes me smile for the happy memories of my youth!

Thank you for sharing your art with us - and thank you for the pleasure you bring me.

    1. Thank you, Jakki :) I am surrounded by a lot of gumflowers, wattle, etc where I live - we have quite a few acres of bush on our property. They are spectactular for such a short time each year, but I love incorporating them into my drawings.

  9. I am TRULY intrigued by the 26th tangle - the aura knot "thingy". How in the world did you ever start that - just a random string design? I love it!

    1. Hi Paula,

Thankyou :) I just created dot "points" and used random sequences, rather than every 2nd, or 3rd point to draw my line to. It's hard to explain, I would have to draw it out for it to make sense, I think.

      Delete
    2. Sure - I understand. I've done some tangles and weeks later looked at and wondered "how did I do that?" and probably couldn't recreate it. I guess that's what they call creativity! :)

  18. Helen, your work is wonderful. You are my new inspiration. I draw with colored pencil, traditional realistic work, and I Zentangle. You have shown that the two artforms can be combined with lovely results.

  26. Hi Helen, I can not stop looking at your work. It is the most beautiful use of Zentangle I have seen yet. You are my new inspiration. So freeing and whimsical. Wonderful white space. Do you use circle templets and or any other guides? It sometimes looks like water color or pen and ink. Is that only done with markers and colored pencils? What size do you usually work? I really think you should/could sell these. I would love a set of the whimsical horns etc... You are an awesome artist. I haven't read your bio yet... I was expecting you to be a well known illustrator but I read above that you are just playing around. WOW! You have an amazing talent. Thanks so much for sharing!!!!

    1. Hi Montena. Thankyou! If I am drawing large circles I do use a circle template and sometimes a ruler if I want very straight lines. Colouring - yep, only markers and coloured pencils. I love my markers - they're how I get the watercolour effects - the colouring morning glories video shows some techniques that I use. I work in A4 art journals as I like the seeing the progression of my drawings in a continuous format - good and bad :) To this point, I haven't been interested in selling my work - I just enjoy doing it for fun :)

Hope you have a wonderful Easter!
