A-Z Journal - D is for Diva Dance

Hey, all! Time for a new instalment to my A-Z journal - if you are following along with me, I estimate we will be finished in about 4 years at the current rate......hahahaha.

Over the last few weeks I've been working on some website design work, along with  some improvements to this blog. I've changed a few things around and given the gallery page a bit of an overhaul (what do you think?) - still some more to do there, but it should look good now on smaller screens (I was having some problems with that). I'm now onto the patterns page - so keep an eye out for an update there soon, too. In other news.........I got my fringe cut for the first time in about 20 years.....pretty momentous for me - I'm still getting used to it!

Today I took some time out from the computer and did some drawing - yay! - it feels like it's been months since I've picked up my pens - here is the result:
Diva Dance Pattern

Diva Dance is a real favourite of mine, I had fun experimenting with the shading on it, though I may even give it another layer for a bit more depth.

Have a great day!

  5. Wonderful as always. I think you had your fringe on your mind as you completed this. It looks like your cut off fringe is laying on top of the Diva Dance

  6. Love that you call bangs, fringe. Made me chuckle. So, where's the photo so we can see? Anyway, I don't do much of Diva Dance and this has motivated me to play with it a bit! Nice to see you back.

and not neglecting all your fans - lol. Please post a photo of the fringe. Hope to see
more of your musings in the near future. Please don't let your pens get rusty.

  12. I love the way you do Diva Dance. I actually find it to be one of the hardest for me to draw (really)! I can never seem to figure out where the knobs should go. I like your new tweaked gallery. Missed seeing you around! Glad to have you back if only for a short while...

  14. Ah! this is beauty and perfection in Diva Dance!!! There is never a tile or drawing that disappoints. I wished....I wished....
Just recently I 'HAD' to do DD for a challenge. I was crossing my fingers that it would not be requested again for a loooooong long time. Somehow DD and I haven't been introduced properly, hence we are not comfy friends. But, I keep my pledge to follow you, Helen, and hence it is: DIVA DANCE. (Hopefully by next year)

  16. Delighted to see your new post as well as your website refresh! Your Diva Dance piece is incredible ... I see many MANY hours of meditative drawing in that. Fabulous. The only thing I miss in your redesign is your smiling face on the home page! Thanks so much for sharing your beautifully inspiring drawings with us. <3

  17. That is some mighty fine diva dancing. That tangle and I go back and forth, like trying to dance with someone who doesn't know the steps and is always tromping on your toes :-) Yours is elegant and lovely. Makes me want to try again...
